Ross River Dam to Douglas Water Treatment Plant - Pipeline Duplication
Project Overview / Description
Townsville City Council engaged CivilPlus Constructions to construct a 9.5km pipeline from Ross River Dam to the Douglas Water Treatment Plant. The purpose of this project was to duplicate the existing ageing pipeline and enhance Townsville’s water security. Upon completion, the new pipeline provides up to 85% of the city’s water supply.
Project Features:
- 9.5km of 1290OD steel pipe
- Pipeline crossing under the Ross River
- Installation of ancillary structures and services including: - Scour valves - Air valves - Sluice valves - Flowmeters - Manhole access pits - Dosing pits
- Hydrostatic testing of new pipeline
- Cutover from existing pipeline to new pipeline
