Haughton Pipeline - Package 3

Project Overview / Description

Townsville City Council contracted CivilPlus Constructions for a section of the Haughton Pipeline Duplication Project (Stage 1), aimed at enhancing Townsville's water security and improving bulk water supply. The project involved the construction of a new raw water delivery pipeline from the Upper Haughton Irrigation Channel to Toonpan Creek, at the head of the Ross River Dam.

CivilPlus was responsible for one of the four pipeline construction packages. Work commenced in December 2019 and was successfully completed by February 2020.

Project Features:

    • Installation of 9.0km of DN1800 Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) pipe
    • Installation of GRP pipe through Majors Creek northern crossing
    • Installation of concrete bored cast-in piles and steel driven pile liners for thrust restraint structures
    • Installation of concrete thrust restraint and isolation valve pit structures
    • Supply and installation of MSCL and DICL pipe and fittings
    • Supply and installation of air valve and scour valve pit structures
    • Supply and installation of scour protection at creek crossings
