Project Overview / Description

CivilPlus Constructions delivered the renewal of internal roof support infrastructure within Douglas Reservoir 2 for Townsville City Council. The works involve the full replacement of sixteen ageing steel support columns to restore structural reliability and extend the reservoir’s operational life. The program is driven by strict safety controls, confined space requirements, and coordination with Council isolation procedures to maintain asset integrity during the refurbishment.

Additionally, roof strengthening works were completed on Douglas Reservoir #3 in preparedness for cyclones.

Project Features:

    • Replacement of 16 internal steel roof support columns inside a potable water reservoir
    • Confined space entry systems and controlled access supported by reservoir pipeline isolations
    • Use of engineered temporary supports to maintain roof stability during staged column changeout
    • Restoration of protective coatings and completion of structural inspections for compliance
    • Roof strengthening works for cyclone preparedness
