Project Overview / Description

CivilPlus Constructions completed the renewal of internal roof support infrastructure at Douglas Reservoir No. 2 for Townsville City Council. The works involved the full replacement of sixteen ageing steel support columns, restoring structural integrity and extending the reservoir’s operational life. The program was delivered under strict safety controls, including confined space requirements and close coordination with Council isolation procedures to maintain asset integrity throughout the refurbishment.

Additionally, roof strengthening works were undertaken at Douglas Reservoir No. 3 to improve resilience in preparation for cyclone events.

Project Features:

    • Replacement of 16 internal steel roof support columns inside a potable water reservoir
    • Confined space entry systems and controlled access supported by reservoir pipeline isolations
    • Use of engineered temporary supports to maintain roof stability during staged column changeout
    • Restoration of protective coatings and completion of structural inspections for compliance
    • Roof strengthening works for cyclone preparedness
