The Douglas Water Treatment Plant Outlet Pipe Interconnection project involved the addition of a new pipeline connecting the Douglas lines and Mt Louisa lines directly after the pump stations. This connection enabled one pump station to be taken offline without interrupting the water supply to Townsville residents. The project included the excavation of a trench approximately 500 meters long and up to 2.5 meters deep, where a total of 300 mm diameter pipes were installed using both welded and flanged joints.
