Project Overview / Description

Australian Defence Force and Downer Defense need to restore channel depths throughout key navigational areas with the Ross River, Railway Estate. 
Downer Defence engaged CivilPlus Constructions to perform mechanical dredging of the channel fronting the Ross Island Barricks to facilitate safe navigation of Defence vessels to the Ross River.  
Dredge material will be transported to the project treatment site for acid sulphate soil neutralization with ag lime and then tis clean fill will be reused as landfill at the Port of Townsville Limited.  

Project Features:

    • 14,460 m3 of mechanical dredging in Ross River
    • 40,000 m3 of earthworks at the treatment site.
    • 7,500 m3 of class gravel works at the treatment site.
    • 14,460 m3 of acid sulphate soil treatment with ag lime.
    • 15,000 m3 of foundation construction at the Port of Townsville Limited landfill site.
