Mt Stuart Road Bridge Rehabilitation
Project Overview / Description
CivilPlus was awarded the project from Townsville City Council for the rehabilitation of the vehicle and pedestrian bridge on Mount Stuart Road. The bridge is situated at the intersection of Mount Stuart Road and the Flinders Highway and is 5.7km from the intersection of University Drive/Stuart Drive intersection. The bridge allows access to the top of Mount Stuart where there is telecommunication infrastructure but also is a popular for tourists and cyclists.
Project Features:
- The works included the design, removal, transportation and disposal of materials from site. Main works include:
- Design of the new deck complete to meet the load requirements as specified in the Level 3 Bridge Report as well as the load requirements for a QFES response vehicle weighing approx 30t.
- Risk & Safety in design workshops and RPEQ certification.
- Removal and disposal of the existing deck.
- Rehabilitation of the existing abutments, girders and central wall.
- Construction of new deck
- Civil works including line marking, scour protection, signage and guard rail.
